KAMPAR, Sept 7 (Bernama) - - The Perak government has urged all residents in the state to keep flying the Jalur Gemilang (national flag) to keep the spirit of patriotism and unity in the air ahead of Malaysia Day, which will be celebrated on Sept 16 nationwide.
State Communications, Multimedia and NGOs Committee chairman Mohd Azlan Helmi said this directive applies to all government, private, residential homes and appropriate locations.
“Besides the iNational Day that is celebrated every Aug 31, Malaysia Day is also one of the historic events that happened in the country.
“So since the interval between the two dates is not too long, we ask people in the state to continue flying the Jalur Gemilang,” he said after officiating at the Tualang Sekah state constituency ‘Sejahtera Desaku’ Carnival at the Tualang Sekah Arena here today.
Mohd Azlan said the Perak Information Department (Japen) has also organised interesting events for the community from all walks of life to mark the historic occasion.
He said as many as 3,000 visitors had thronged the Tualang Sekah Arena which is offering various sales, exhibitions and competitions involving the cooperation of 12 state and federal agencies.
He said among the agencies involved are the Kampar Land and District Office, the Kampar District Council (MDK), the Road Transport Department (JPJ), the Perak State Department of Agriculture, the Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (Perak SADC) and more.
“The booths sell cheap raw essential foods like vegetables, meat and chicken. The agriculture department also delivers coconut seedlings for free to selected parties and so on.
“Basically, the main objective is to fulfil the needs of the people and ensure that they are treated to beneficial activities,” he said.
